Edeeblair's Tips Until I have time to put something together properly, here are some suggestions from Edee Blair.
Relating To Aids - If you have medical problem such as being HIV+ their is a foundation called "The Ryan White Foundation" here in Oregon and they may be able to assist with the extremely high costs of medication and treatment. Each state has its resources. Look it up on the Internet. Computer Access For Jobs - If you are ever in need of the use of a computer the Employment Department State Offices has computers available for the use of finding a job, creating a resume' and such. The state employent offices can also sometimes help with a class or two to help you get back into the workforce if you are lacking the knowledge to get back into the swing of things. Check it out! It is a great resource.
Issues With Hospital Bills - If you ever have a hospital stay and you feel that your bill is not correct or your care was not adequate you can contact the hospital and ask for a Patient Advocate that will help you every step of the way.
Low Cost Healthcare - If you find yourself without healthcare which is a common occurance these days check out your Teaching Hospital such as OHSU-Oregon Health Sciences University. They have every specialty under the sun and they will not turn down anyone. You will of course have payments but they will accept small payments sometimes 10.00 per month. It is good quality care. You may have to travel but it is well worth it.
* edeeblair : I hope that these ideas help and I will continue to post whatever I can to help you....Have a wonderful day....remember... one day at a time or one hour at a time if that is what it takes....
If You've Been Victimized - If you are ever in a situation where you are the victim, each county has a Victim's Assistance Office and they help to get Restitution through the legal process and it is free.
Collecting Child Support - If you need help collecting your back child support go to your local District Attorney's Office Child Support Enforcement and they will guide you through the process and file your paperwork. You will only need to supply the correct info.
Moving Help - If you ever get into a pinch and need help moving you may be able to contact your local jail and they sometimes have a work crew that can help. They are supervised by the county so it is safe.
Low Cost Prescriptions - I applied for a discount prescription program which is Care Rx...and I was amazed when my prescription was only 3.80. It is only good at select stores but worth the research. You may also contact major pharmaceutical companies such as Lily and apply for free meds. There is an application process and you must prove that you are low income but my goodness...more help.
Save On Childcare - If you live in a community where you know the other moms then just swap childcare...it helps everyone. I did it when my kids were small and it sure did help with the daycare bill.
Internet Scams - I like many have been scammed by these survey companies asking for your input and then promising a Gift Card from local stores and major stores. Save yourself some time. It is a big scam. It takes about 2 hours online and you must give financial info and buy something. Not good....just passing on my experience. Desperate times call for desperate measures but this is not one of them! LOL....
Help In Rural Areas With Food - If you are in a rural area the Gleaners helps to provide food to folks who need it. It is day old items from all of the local stores. It helps in a pinch!
Thanks Edee, these are great! Min and Russ
