Energy Efficient Home Energy savings for a mom in need. Weatherization can help to cut your energy costs. Insulation, caulking and other weatherization steps are important for saving energy and controlling your heating bills. We understand that it may be difficult to fit energy-efficiency improvements into your budget. That’s why we want to let you know about special no-cost weatherization programs for which you may be eligible.
To apply, call the community action agency listed for the county where you live. Often, there is a significant waiting list. But the sooner you call, the sooner you’ll get on the list. If your furnace or heat source is not working, please call right away, because once you complete an application, you may qualify for faster assistance. There is financial help if you meet the income requirements.
An example of their income structure is for a family of 3= 2,601.66. See the chart below. If you are chosen for the program, a contactor will contact you to perform the audit and see where you are losing your heat. Some of the things that the contractor will look at ill be ceiling and wall insulation, energy related home repairs-minor only, furnace repair and/or replacement, heating duct improvements and they will go over the best ways to conserve energy. Another way to help with the bill is to get on a Monthly Equal Pay Plan. This takes your yearly averaged amount and splits it over a twelve month period. The idea is to be able to budget and pay the same amount monthly so that you do not get that shocking $300.00 bill in December and then again in July. We have all been there.
