Ladies Car Insurance

Do I Need Car Insurance?

     Are these your thoughts?

  • I’m a careful woman driver.
  • I’m only driving locally.
  • I don’t have money for car insurance .
  • My car is pretty messed up.  What do I care if I get a few more dings on it?

Well, I think we’ve all had these thoughts, but the law does not share them.  It is VERY CLEAR that in order to drive a vehicle; a person must have a valid driver’s license and car insurance.

In California, for example, there is a California Compulsory Financial Responsibility Law that requires every driver and owner of a motor vehicle to be financially responsible for their actions.  The minimum amounts liability insurance that a person must carry is:

Bodily Injury:

$15,000 for death or injury of any one person, any one accident.

$30,000 for all persons in one accident.

That just covers the people.

Property Damage:

$5,000 for any one accident.

When your car is in an accident, and you are legally liable, the Bodily Injury amounts cover your liability to others for injuries to them.  (The insurance will pay up to $15,000 to the people you hurt.)

The insurance will pay up to $5,000 for the property you damaged.

As you can see these amounts are almost nothing.  This is the smallest amount of coverage that California will allow.  Even though purchasing these amounts will make you legally ready to drive, these amounts are just not enough coverage.  Consider $150,000 and $300,000 worth of coverage.

Insurance companies will offer much higher amounts and other coverages as well and even give lower rates for ladies car insurance.  They will offer comprehensive coverage, uninsured motorist, medical payments, and collision coverage.  These coverages are recommended because they’ll pay on other types of damage and liability.

Now, here’s the scary part.  If you should choose not to purchase car insurance and you’re pulled over, you could be fined up to $500 plus penalties, your car could be impounded and your license could be suspended, for a single mom, that's devastating.  The officer that pulls you over will be able to check on his or her computer to see if you are covered or not.

Now, if you’re involved in an accident you will have to pay for any injuries or damages.  Fixing damaged cars is incredibly expensive.  Fixing damaged bodies is beyond what most people can afford.

As you can see, it’s a wise decision to get car insurance.  If you have an old car, it won’t cost too much.  These companies will often accept monthly payments or at least quarterly payments.  Budgeting for this expense is a necessity if you want to drive.

There are many excellent companies selling these insurances.  Their rates are not all the same.  It pays to check with different companies, or just go to a car insurance broker .  The broker deals with many companies at the same time and can find the best deal for you.

I hope I have convinced you to purchase womens car insurance BEFORE driving your car.  It is well worth the money and you will have peace of mind.
